Harbour Island, affectionately known as ‘Briland’
to the locals is located at the northern tip of Eleuthera. Bordered by the Great
Bahama Banks and the Atlantic Ocean, it’s waters offer excellent diving
opportunities. There are plenty of dive sites along shallow and deep reefs on
the Atlantic side , as well as on the expansive 13 miles of barrier reef called
quite aptly the ‘Devil’s Backbone’ home to
many wrecks. This treacherous reef is great for both diving and snorkeling.

| Access to Harbour Island is either by plane or boat. From North Eleuthera
Airport, it’s a ‘hop, skip and jump’ to Harbour Island - just
take a land taxi to Three Island Dock then a water taxi straight to Harbour
Island. The water taxi driver if asked, will drop you off at Valentine’s
Marina - we are located at the end of the dock. The total trip takes about 15
minutes. There are daily international flights from Miami or Fort Lauderdale,
or domestic from Nassau. |

Alternatively, there is a Fast Ferry from Nassau which arrives directly
to Harbour Island. The journey takes two hours and is a great ride.
Harbour Island boasts one of the world’s best beaches running nearly 3
miles along the eastern side of the island. It is easy to explore Briland on
foot, although most visitors rent a golf cart during their stay. Visit the main
settlement of Dunmore Town which is lined with historic gingerbread-type homes
facing the bay area. A most photogenic island on land and in the water! |
There
are a variety of restaurants, shops,hotels &
lodging, to choose from, varying from both the high end to the more budget conscious
visitors.
